MAIN CHARACTERS:

1.Luis Fernando Lopez:

Luis Fernando Lopez (born 1983) is the main protagonist and playable character of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, the second and final downloadable episodic pack for the game. Luis is the Dominican-American bodyguard and business associate of Tony Prince. He went to juvenile hall for shooting a teacher who felt up his sister. It is revealed that he did a stint in prison as a result of a crime committed with Armando Torres and Henrique Bardas (neither of whom were caught). It was said by Henrique and Armando that Luis was much more slim before he went to prison.

When released from prison, he was taken under the wing of Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince, who gave him a job as a bodyguard and manager at his clubs. This has caused him to lose a small amount of respect with his old neighborhood, who view him as somewhat of a downtown yuppie. He has a brother (who condemns him for his extravagant lifestyle) and sister, both of whom are successful working class citizens that live in the suburbs. Luis came to view "Gay Tony" as a father figure, as his real father abandoned him and his family when he was young. Because of his job as a high-profile nightclub manager, Luis is a well known ladies' man, having casual sex in club bathrooms and long-term relationships with many women.

Luis Lopez is voiced by Mario D'Leon.

2.Tony Prince:

Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince (born 1963)[citation needed] is the deuteragonist and the owner of Hercules and Maisonette 9, the hottest gay and straight nightclubs in Liberty City. He also holds a minority stake in the nightclub Bahama Mamas.

Before Maisonette 9 and Hercules, Tony ran several other high-profile clubs, which have all been shut down for various reasons, either by burning down or Tony's violation of city ordinances. According to Luis, Tony first earned his nickname in 1987, when he became openly homosexual. In 2005, "Gay Tony" hired Luis as a bouncer for Hercules, developing a father-son-like relationship, eventually giving Luis minority ownership in his clubs, although Tony later admits that he only hired Luis for "dumb muscle".

Tony's days on top have passed, as he is in debt to several individuals throughout the city, particularly to the Ancelotti Crime Family. He relies mostly on Luis to settle these debts by doing favors for his creditors. He is also a drug addict, regularly abusing cocaine and prescription medication, supplied by Evan Moss, his boyfriend, and Gracie Ancelotti, daughter of Don Giovanni Ancelotti. In an attempt to settle his debts once and for all, Tony buys $2 million worth of diamonds from a ship cook; however, this leads to unwanted attention from several criminal groups around the city, including the Lost MC, the McReary Mob, and Ray Bulgarin, the diamonds' true owner.

Towards the end of the game, Maisonette 9 and Hercules are shut down by the city after Tony had neglected to pay taxes on the clubs, preoccupied with "half the city" threatening to kill him. After the game's end, it is implied that he left Liberty City as Tony cannot be contacted after completing "Departure Time".

Inspirations for "Gay Tony's" character may include Steve Rubell, owner of Studio 54, or Peter Gatien, owner of The Limelight. Maisonette 9 bears an uncanny resemblance to New York City club Bungalow 8. Amy Sacco, the owner of Bungalow 8, makes a voice-only cameo as Larissa Slalom, a rival nightclub owner, for an interview in the in-game radio programme "Fizz", calling "Gay Tony" a loser at the end of the interview.

Tony Prince is voiced by David Kenner (aka D.B. Cooper).

3.Yusuf Amir:

Yusuf Amir (Arabic: يوسف أمير) is the tritagonist and a property developer from Dubai living in Liberty City and business partner/friend of Luis Fernando Lopez. He owns several high end properties in Liberty City and has plans to eventually buy the whole city.

He is obsessed with material things, and goes to great lengths in attempts to impress his father, Abdul Amir, a successful, yet humble businessman who is disappointed by his son's hedonistic lifestyle. He frequently has his personal possessions painted or plated gold, such as an Uzi and his cell phone. He also uses racial slurs quite liberally, to Luis' discontent. He has a strong appetite for cocaine, fancy champagne, prostitutes, as well as all excess in general. His favorite song, Busta Rhymes' 'Arab Money', is usually playing during every cutscene within his apartment.

He sends Luis on dangerous missions to acquire certain vehicles for him, such as an experimental heavy attack helicopter called the "Buzzard" (which he later paints gold) owned by a South African arms dealer and smuggler named Frickie Van Hardenburg, an armoured assault vehicle belonging to N.O.O.S.E., and a LTA subway car for a Liberty City-theme hotel. During these missions, Luis asks Yusuf why he can't simply buy the vehicles with his extreme wealth with Yusuf stating that he wants the stolen vehicles for "authenticity".

Towards the end of the game, Yusuf gives Luis his gold-painted "Super Drop Diamond" luxury convertible, Sub Machine Gun and the Buzzard as gifts. In the game's final mission, Yusif gives Luis air support in the Buzzard as he races to Francis International Airport to stop Ray Bulgarin. During the finale of The ballad of gay Tony, it is implied that Yusif and Abdul buy Tony's nightclubs, intending to franchise them globally.

Yusuf Amir is voiced by Omid Djalili.

4.Ray Bulgarin:

Ray Bulgarin (1958–2008) (Russian: Родислав Бoлгарин) is a powerful, evil Russian crime lord and the main antagonist of the game. He is allied with Liberty City Bravta boss Dimitri Rascalov, the main antagonist of GTA IV.

Believing that everything has a price, he is an art connoisseur and a collector of both music and sports memorabilia, even going as far as wanting to own the Liberty City Rampage pro hockey club. He also enjoys jam sessions with his loyal but humourless henchman, Timur. Bulgarin recruits Luis to help him acquire the L.C. Rampage by force from current team owner Marki Ashvilli after formal negotiations fall through, first by killing corrupt police officers on Ashvilli's payroll and then killing Ashvilli himself.

When Bulgarin discovers that his diamonds were stolen by the Platypus cook and later sold to "Gay Tony" and Luis, Bulgarin betrays Luis and vows to assassinate him and Tony. Bulgarin later breaks up a hostage exchange, where his diamonds were being exchanged for Gracie Ancelotti, at Charge Island's water treatment plant between the two parties of Luis and Niko Bellic. 10 years prior to the events of the game, Niko worked for Bulgarin in the human trafficking ring in Eastern Europe; however, one of Bulgarin's ships sank in the Adriatic Sea, and Niko was blamed for the loss of its human cargo. It was likely that Bulgarin learned of the hostage exchange from Rascalov, who was looking to have Niko assassinated. Intending on killing both Luis and Niko for their past "betrayals", Bulgarin orders his men attack everyone; however, Tony and Luis manage to flee with Gracie. Niko and his accomplice Packie McReary also manage to survive Bulgarin's attack; however, both they and Bulgarin end up losing the diamonds for good after one of Bulgarin's henchmen drops the diamonds into a passing truck.

After the diamond fiasco, Bulgarin meets with Don Giovanni Ancelotti, and both agree that they are owed the body of Tony Prince, who was deemed responsible for the whole diamond situation. When Luis refuses to kill Tony, Bulgarin's men attack Maisonette 9, however they both survive. In "Departure Time", Luis destroys a large shipment of heroin belonging to the Russians while it is being moved in Firefly Island. Timur, who was overlooking the heroin shipment, tells Luis that Bulgarin is on a private jet at Francis International Airport, preparing to leave for Europe. Luis kills Timur and races to the airport before Bulgarin takes off. After Luis gets on the plane and kills Bulgarin's bodyguards, Bulgarin emerges from the cockpit holding a live grenade in his hand, threatening to kill both himself and Luis. Luis executes Bulgarin, and the grenade detonates, ripping off the front of the jet; however, Luis manages to survive and parachutes to the Mono-globe in Meadows Park.

Ray Bulgarin is voiced by Vitali Baganov.

5.Rocco Pelosi:

Rocco Pelosi is the tertiary antagonist of the game and an enforcer for the Ancelotti Crime Family to whom "Gay Tony" owes money and the tertiary antagonist of the game. He often works with an older gangster named Uncle Vince. He looks down on Luis and Tony, with Rocco and Luis often trading racial insults. Luis and Tony believe that Rocco is a wannabe gangster who is out of his league.

Rocco orders Tony and Luis to do criminal favors for him to lessen the debt, but he only allows a little to be erased and constantly puts the squeeze on Tony. This drives Tony to purchase smuggled diamonds in hopes of paying off the Ancelottis, but it only attracts unwanted attention from other criminals that leads to Gracie Ancelotti's kidnapping. A furious Don Giovanni Ancelotti blames Rocco for coming down too hard on Tony, and he is further angered when powerful Russian mobster Ray Bulgarin claims the diamonds are rightfully his and that he plans to eliminate whoever was involved in the circumstances leading to their purchase. A desperate Rocco contacts Luis and asks him to kill Tony, as presenting the Don with a body would appease everyone and it would give Luis control of the clubs. Luis ultimately sides with Tony and kills Rocco's bodyguard, Vince. Rocco is spared because he is a made man. Also, Rocco's post-game voice-mail message suggests that he has left Liberty City to "lie low" for a while.

Rocco Pelosi is voiced by Greg Siff.

6.Mori Kibbutz:

Mori Kibbutz (Hebrew: מורי קיבוץ) is a business entrepreneur and elder brother to Brucie Kibbutz. Tony owes money to Mori and is unable to pay off his debts monetarily, forcing Luis to do work for Mori to pay off this debt. Mori is extremely condescending to his younger brother because of his own looks, intellect, and success. Mori claims to have gained his muscle naturally (whereas Brucie takes steroids), is said to have been accepted into two Ivy League schools, served in the Israel Defense Forces, and has made investments that have made him very wealthy. He is also an adrenaline junkie (going as far as to call the cops on himself during a race just to "make it more interesting") and his behaviour displeases Luis and Brucie, eventually pushing Brucie over the edge. Brucie breaks Mori's nose, which gives Brucie a new sense of empowerment as well as killing Mori's ego. During the end credits, both Mori and Brucie are seen fighting in a LC Cage Fighters match. A post-game phone call reveals that Mori returned to Israel to run a kibbutz for profit.

7.Armando Torres:

Armando Torres is a street-level drug dealer and childhood friend of Luis. He employs his other childhood friend, Henrique Bardas, as his bodyguard, and hopes to one day form his own drug distribution ring. He can be called upon to sell Luis weapons from the back of his SUV. As Armando's mother abandoned him as a child, he suffers from child abandonment issues, and this is reflected in his behavior towards his close friends, to Henrique's dismay, who complains that Armando is 'too clingy' towards him. Armando learnt to swim as an adult.

Armando Torres is voiced by Jaime Fernandez.

8.Henrique Bardas:

Henrique Bardas is a partner of Armando Torres, and a childhood friend of Luis. Henrique is the muscle of the crew, while Armando is the brains. He can be called upon to deliver vehicles to Luis. Henrique has referred to his IQ as being only 76, and as a result he has never been able to land a legitimate job, forcing him to turn to crime to support himself.

Henrique Baedas is voiced by J. Salome Martinez Jr.

9.Timur:

Timur (Russian: Тимур) is the right-hand man of Ray Bulgarin, and the secondary antagonist of the game. He is seen playing the guitar in some cutscenes for Bulgarin's missions. His over-serious attitude to his job annoys Luis and, to some extent, Ray. He also assists Luis Lopez to parachute and land on a building to kill Marki Ashvilli, the owner of the Liberty City Rampage Hockey Team. In "Departure Time", Timur is overseeing a large shipment of heroin belonging to Bulgrain in Firefly Island; however, the drugs are destroyed by Luis. Before he is eventually killed by Luis, he mentions that Bulagrin is leaving Liberty City in two hours.

Timur is voiced by Glenn Fleshler.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS:

1.Adriana Yanira Lopez:

Adriana Yanira Lopez is a Dominican who resides in Northwood and is the mother of Luis Fernando Lopez, Leta Lopez-Wilkinson and Ernesto Lopez. She is also like a mother figure to Luis' close friends Armando Torres and Henrique Bardas. Mr. Santos, a loan shark, gave her a loan and Luis was forced to go back to cage fighting in order to pay off her debt. Her husband joined the Marine Corps, then ran out on her whilst two of her kids went off to start families. She is somewhat hypocritical, damning Luis' nightclub job, telling him to go back to school, but takes the money Luis gives to her, claiming that she has lost her own job therefore having no other choice but to take his money.

2.Brucie Kibbutz:

Bruce "Brucie" Kibbutz is a character also featured in GTA IV. He acts as one of Niko Bellic's employers and allies. In The Ballad of Gay Tony, Brucie is revealed to have an older brother, Mori. Mori always picks on Brucie which leads him to his wild lifestyle and steroid abuse. Brucie is, at one point, seen starting to cry after Mori abuses him (specifically after Mori defeats him in a game of chess). In Mori's final mission, "No. 3". Brucie decides he has had enough of Mori's abuse and breaks his nose. Brucie is also seen dancing with Roman Bellic and two women in Maisonette 9. It is implied that Brucie is a closeted bisexual, after he attempts to kiss Luis, before hastily covering his tracks, Brucie claims he was testing to see if Luis was gay.

3.Gracie Ancelotti:

Grace "Gracie" Ancelotti (born 1977) is the daughter of the Ancelotti Crime Family Don Giovanni Ancelotti. She is friends with Gay Tony and hangs out with him on a regular basis. It is insinuated that she may be responsible for Tony's cocaine addiction. She is friendly to Luis and seems somewhat insulted that he doesn't hit on her. Luis states that he does not date mob bosses' daughters after Dani Lupisella, daughter of Lupisella Crime Family boss Mark Lupisella, threatened to have Luis castrated when he broke up with her. She is kidnapped by Niko Bellic and Packie McReary as ransom for the diamonds. After Tony and Luis rescue Gracie and don't attempt to kill Niko and Packie in revenge for the kidnapping, she gets in a rage and Luis knocks her unconscious, mirroring the scene in GTA IV in which Niko does the same. After that, Luis states that he wants nothing to do with her again.

4.Vince Pelosi:

Vincenzo Pelosi (a.k.a. Uncle Vince) is the apparent uncle and bodyguard of Rocco Pelosi. He is killed by Luis when he hands him a gun and instructs him to kill "Gay Tony". However, Luis shoots him instead, then tells Rocco that he had "second thoughts". As Luis is about to kill Rocco, Tony talks him out of it, stating that Rocco is a made man and that there would be serious consequences.

5.Ahmed Khalil:

Ahmed Khalil is a rich friend of Yusuf Amir who first meets Luis after he destroys Frickie Van Hardenburg's yacht on Yusuf's orders. After retrieving the Buzzard for Amir, the two agree to arrange a meeting on the Rotterdam Tower's observation deck in which he and another associate plan to double cross Amir to the cops in order to take over his business. Luis, however, attends the meeting in Yusuf's place and is ambushed by the cops after killing Tahir, Ahmed's associate. After a short battle with police, Luis corners Ahmed on top of the skyscraper's spire, where he gives Luis a parachute and assures him that the police are not after him. Luis, nonetheless, scares Ahmed off the spire, falling to his death.

6.Evan Moss:

Evan Moss (1984–2008) is the on-again, off-again boyfriend of "Gay Tony". He is a male model and in his younger days, he was a body builder in his native Arizona. Luis has a particular disliking of Evan, believing that he is causing Tony's drug addiction. Luis also believes that Evan is a gold-digger, only sticking around for the money. He is killed by Johnny Klebitz after being shot out of a Limo after the botched diamond deal.

7.Niko Bellic:

Niko Bellic (born 1978) is the protagonist of GTA IV and Roman's cousin. He is 34-years-old. Niko appears on three occasions: the Bank Job with the McReary Brothers, the Museum Diamond Deal, and the Diamond/Gracie Ancelotti Exchange.

Niko is voiced by Michael Hollick.

8.Roman Bellic:

Roman Bellic (born 1977) is Niko Bellic's cousin. He is first seen in the mission "Chinese Takeout" dancing with Brucie Kibbutz and two women at Maisonette 9. He is later seen again at Maisonette 9 trying to get into the club and then, eventually, gets let in. Finally, Roman is seen again with Brucie trying to get into Maisonette 9. Brucie uses his friendship with Luis to get them into the club, and while Roman goes to the bar to get some drinks, Brucie tries to kiss Luis.

Roman Bellic was voiced by Jason Zumwalt.

9.Johnny Klebitz:

Johnny Klebitz (born 1974) is the protagonist of The Lost and Damned and is the Vice-President of the Lost Motorcycle Club. Johnny is seen on three occasions; first, he is seen riding his Custom Hexer by Chinatown near the robbed bank, second, at the first diamond deal between the chef and Tony, and third, at the museum diamond deal.

10.Packie McReary:

Patrick "Packie" McReary (born 1979) is a 33-year-old member of the McReary Family and an employer and friend of Niko Bellic. He is first seen during the Bank Job, then at the Diamond/Gracie Ancelotti Exchange on Charge Island, after being followed by Luis and Tony in a helicopter. In the end credits there is a scene of Packie heading into the airport and later a scene of a plane leaving, alleging that Packie McReary has finally decided to visit "the old country", which he mentions to Niko on an outing in GTA IV.

11.Isaac Roth:

Isaac Roth (1976–2008) is a Diamond dealer and the head of the Jewish Mob. He is seen trying to buy the diamonds from Johnny Klebitz and Niko Bellic in the museum. After Luis ambushes the deal and kills Mori Green, Isaac's right hand man, he takes the diamonds and hides under a table. Luis finds him and Isaac tries to convince Luis to help him escape by splitting the diamonds. Luis, however, knocks him out with his rifle and steals back the diamonds. He is later killed in the Majestic Hotel by Niko Bellic in GTA IV, after threatening to have Ray Boccino, Niko's boss at the time of the diamond exchange, killed.

12.Dessie:

Dessie is the second bouncer at Maisonette 9. Dessie is known as the hardest doorman in Liberty City and has been offered to be the doorman at other nightclubs in other countries. If Luis doesn't bounce enough at the club then Dessie will call Luis.

13.The Cook:

The Cook is the head chef for The Platypus, the ship Niko Bellic arrived in Liberty City on. The Cook has acquired an assortment of rough diamonds (which are later revealed to have been stolen from Bulgarin) and plans to sell them to "Gay Tony". The diamond deal is botched, however, by Johnny Klebitz and members of The Lost MC. The diamonds are taken by Johnny after gunning down Evan Moss, Tony Prince's boyfriend, who made off with them. Bulgarin later finds and beheads The Cook as revenge for stealing his diamonds and as an attempt to intimidate Luis and "Gay Tony".

14.Troy:

Troy is the doorman at gay nightclub Hercules even though he is not gay himself. When Tony appears at the Club, Troy will ask to talk to him and usually complains to Luis when he comes to the Club about that he is going to have a documentary made about him.

14.Abdul Amir:

Abdul Amir is an Arab businessman and property developer and the father of Yusuf Amir. Unlike his son, Abdul is a modest and traditional businessman. Abdul looks down on his son's wild and hedonistic lifestyle, feeling that Yusuf is too immature to take on his legacy. During a visit, he catches Yusuf not wearing pants and partaking in cocaine and a prostitute's services. However, at the end of the game, Mr. Amir shows interest in franchising "Gay Tony's" nightclubs.

MINOR CHARACTERS:

1.Joni:

Joni is the security manager at Maisonette 9. She guides Luis when he works as a bouncer at the club. She occasionally calls Luis into the Manager's office and offers him sexual favors. When Luis changes into his bouncer suit, Joni often makes comments about his penis size.

2.Mr. Santo:

Mr. Santo is a loan shark whom Luis' mother owes money to. He is quite respectful to Mrs. Lopez but tells Luis in private that he would have burned down her house already if she wasn't so friendly. He forces Luis to compete in an organized fighting ring in order to pay off his mother's debts. Mr. Santo tells Luis to take a dive during the third match against an opponent he had faced in the past. If Luis takes the dive, Mr. Santo forgives Mrs. Lopez' debt, later helping out with her shopping; however, she berates Luis for taking the dive. If Luis takes down the third opponent, Mr. Santo draws a knife against Luis and threatens to burn his mother's apartment, forcing Luis to kill him.

3.Costas:

Costas is one of Tony Prince's limo drivers for the Diamond Deal in Broker. Costas is killed by Police Officers on the Algonquin side of the Algonquin Bridge as he is driving Tony and Luis away from the Lost MC. Costas is a mix of Greek and Latin American.

4.Billy Grey:

Billy Grey (1971–2008) is the President of the Lost MC in Alderney. He is seen discussing business with a Triad lieutenant, leaving the Triad's club as "Gay Tony" and Luis were coming in and killed him. It is revealed that Billy Grey had arranged a deal with the Triads to kill Johnny Klebitz and Jim Fitzgerald during the heroin exchange between the Triads and the Lost.

5.Triad boss:

Rocco tells Gay Tony and Luis to go to the Dragon Heart Plaza in Chinatown to talk to a Triad Boss about acquiring a liquor license for a club he plans to open. When Tony states that he cannot get the license for the Triads, with Luis stating that he and Tony can barely keep their licenses for their own clubs, the Triad Boss becomes furious and draws a pistol on him and Luis. Luis knocks him out; however, the gun discharges, alerting the other Triads, and Luis and Gay Tony are forced to shoot their way out of the Dragon Heart Plaza.

6.Messina Union official:

At the start of "Practice Swing", "Gay Tony" tells Luis to drive to the driving range on the West River to meet with Rocco. At the driving range, Rocco has a LTA Union official working for the Messina Family tied to a caged golf cart, attempting to extract information from him by hitting golf balls at him. After Rocco gets information from the Union official, Messina enforcers arrive and attempt to kill Rocco. Luis helps Rocco kill the enforcers, and they manage to outrun the Messinas in golf carts. If the Union official survives the shootout, Rocco takes him home to get more information. If the Union official dies during the mission, Rocco will complain that he can't get any more information from him and go dump the body.

7.Eugene Reaper:

Eugene Reaper is the man who is beside Luis López in the Bank of Liberty branch that Niko and the McReary Irish Mob are robbing in I Luv LC. During the robbery, he informs Luis that he is a member of a gun club and plans to stand up against the robbers. When Luis says that it's not a good idea, Reaper tells him that "the world is built out of bad ideas". When Packie and Derrick start to have a petty argument, he takes advantage of their lack of concentration on him, pulls his gun out and shoots Michael Keane, killing him. In retaliation, Packie shoots Reaper dead. In-game media later credit him as a hero.

8.Derrick McReary:

Derrick McReary (born 1956) is a member of the McReary Irish Mob and the eldest McReary brother. He assists Niko, his younger brother Packie, and Michael Keane during the bank robbery as an explosives expert. When Derrick enters the bank lobby after setting PE4 charges on the bank vault, he attempts to keep the hostages calm, accidentally revealing that he and Packie are brothers, resulting in an argument between the two. During their argument, one the hostages, Eugene Reaper, attempts to stand up against the McReary Mob by killing their accomplice Michael Keane, with McRearys killing Reaper in retaliation. The McReary Brothers and Niko manage to steal $1,000,000 and evade the LCPD and NOOSE, with Luis almost being run over by the trio shortly after the robbery.

9.Michael Keane:

Michael Keane (1981–2008) is an accomplice in the Bank of Liberty robbery. During the robbery, Keane was shot dead by hostage Eugene Reaper after the Packie and Derrick were distracted by an argument. After the robbery, Packie gives Michael's share of the stolen money to his family.

10.Marki Ashvilli:

Marki Ashvilli (Russian:Марки Ашвили, Georgian: მარქი აშვილი)(1964–2008) is an Eastern European businessman and the owner of the Liberty City Rampage professional ice hockey club. In a Weazel News report, Ashvilli comes under scrutiny for his supposed dealings with Russian criminals and for speculation of selling the team. Ray Bulgarin makes an offer to buy the Rampage from him; however, he refuses to sell the team to Bulgarin. Ashvilli attempts to have Bulgarin arrested by using crooked LCPD, NOOSE, and FIB officers to plant evidence in Bulgarin's car, however Luis, Bulgarin, and Timur thwart the plot. When negotiations fall through, Bulgarin orders Luis to infiltrate the MeTV Building and kill Ashvilli. When Ashvilli is confronted by Luis, he believes that The Kremlin sent Luis to assassinate him. Ashvilli is knocked through the window of his boardroom, falling to his death. The Liberty Tree states that Ashvilli is Russian; however, his surname suggests that he is Georgian.

11.Frickie Van Hardenburg:

Frickie Van Hardenburg is a South African trafficker of arms, drugs and human beings. Luis Lopez, on the orders of Yusuf Amir, is sent to Van Hardenburg's yacht to steal his Buzzard, an extremely powerful prototype attack helicopter. After Luis steals the helicopter, Yusuf then orders him to use it to destroy the yacht, killing most everyone on board. Some of the surviving crew try to escape on speedboats, but Luis chases them down and kills them.

It should be noted that the first name given to him by the Liberty Tree is not grammatically correct, as the letter "C" is not used frequently Afrikaans. His real name would, therefore, be Frikkie.

12.Tahir Saeed:

Tahir Saeed is the right hand man of Ahmed. He and Ahmed plan to sell out Yusuf Amir to the police in order to take over his business, but Saeed is killed when Luis, who is taking Yusuf's place in the meeting, tosses him over the top of the Rotterdam Tower's observation deck, where he dies after falling onto a taxi.

13.Vic Manzano:

Victor "Vic" Manzano is the owner of the Bahama Mamas nightclub, of which "Gay Tony" holds a minority stake. He is wanted by both Liberty City and Las Venturas police for his illegal activities. Luis is instructed to go the club by Rocco to "talk" to Monique, the nightclub's manager and Vic's girlfriend, to get information from Vic, who was thought to be in Venturas at the time. When Vic enters his office unexpectedly and finds Monique giving felatio to Luis, he knocks Monique out and threatens Luis at gunpoint. Luis kills Manzano, setting off a violent shootout between him and the club's security. Bahama Mamas is shut down afterward and is inaccessible for the rest of the game.

14.Monique:

Monique was also, at one time, a girlfriend of Luis; however, she broke up with him when she caught him having an affair with her roommate. Rocco tells Luis to see Monique to get information from Vic. Luis manages to seduce her again, and she leads him to the club's office and performs oral sex on him. When Vic shows up unexpectedly, Monique tries to explain the situation to Vic; however, he knocks her out. It is unknown what happened to Monique after the shootout, although sometimes she is seen running out of the club when the shootout starts.

15.The Celebinator:

The Celebinator is a high-profile blogger in Liberty City. On his blog, he slanders "Gay Tony" and Luis, implying that they have a homosexual relationship, and gives a bad write-up about Maisonette 9 and Hercules, threatening Tony's already anemic income. To intimidate the blogger, "Gay Tony" arranges a helicopter ride above the Statue of Happiness, in which Luis delivers a beating on "The Celebinator" before throwing him out. He then jumps out of the helicopter, catching "The Celebinator" in mid-air and parachuting to safety on Happiness Island. After the traumatic episode, to the point where "The Celebinator" defecates in his pants, he writes a more positive post about "Gay Tony" and his nightclubs and writes a slam article on the Statue of Happiness. He is a parody of real-life celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

16.Jerry Kapowitz:

Jerry Kapowitz is a homeless Vietnam War veteran in Liberty City. After escaping from Bulgarin's destroyed jet, Luis bumps into Kapowitz in Meadows Park before meeting up with "Gay Tony". After Luis helps him up, Kapowitz discovers the pouch which held Bulgarin's diamonds. When over 100 people contest ownership of the diamonds, Mayor Ochoa allows Kapowitz to keep the proceeds from the diamonds' sale. With his new-found wealth, Kapowitz plans to open a gun shop and liquor store in Vice City. Jerry Kapowitz is seen in GTA IV during the mission Clean Getaway, in which Vlad Glebov threatens him after he asks for money.

OTHER CELEBRITIES:

In the "Club Management" mini-missions, Luis must escort and/or cater to high profile celebrities attending Tony's clubs. They are, in order:

1.Clay "Pain Giver" Jackson — A gangster rap superstar who is secretly gay, and wants Tony to have someone escort him and his boyfriend (hiding from paparazzi inside a tinted PMP 600) out of the Hercules parking lot. His character may have been inspired by the book Hiding in Hip-Hop, which suggested a handful of prominent black male recording artists in concealed gay relationships.

2.Kerry McIntosh — An anorexic supermodel somewhat in the likeness of Kate Moss who orders food from the Iron Belly Deli in Bohan, bad smelling enough so that she can throw up easily. After Luis picks up the order, Ms. McIntosh's personal assistant calls him several times en route to the club. She is previously referenced on the radio and internet in Grand Theft Auto IV, where she made tabloid headlines for numerous breakdowns.

3.English Prince — An unnamed Prince of England, set to inherit the throne. He wants to spend a night with Korean prostitutes. He is a parody of Prince Harry of Wales.

4.Poppy Mitchell — A beloved child actress concealing a party-hard lifestyle. She asks Luis to escort her out of Maisonette 9 without paparazzi bothering her, which Luis outrageously solves by stealing a fire truck and spraying the cameramen away, and their conversation suggests that they occasionally have casual sex.

5.Cloe Parker — An American heiress and celebutante. She is a friend and good customer of "Gay Tony" who must be driven from Maisonette 9 to her family's mansion when drunk. During the ride home, she makes several embarrassing drunken sexual advances toward Luis and also refers to her vagina as "Puss Puss". Her name is taken from Nicole Richie's pseudonym in her semi-autobiography The Truth About Diamonds. Like the character Kerry McIntosh, Cloe Parker is shown in the in-game media previously, particularly in the television show I'm Rich.

6.Al Di Napoli — A retired tough-guy Italian actor, somewhat in the likeness of Robert De Niro, who mistakenly finds his way into Hercules. He is working furiously on a comeback, and must begin with Burlesque Theater performances - where he asks to be taken. On the way, he wants to buy drugs and is nearly arrested by police, until Luis outruns them.

7.Blue Brothers — Consisting of twin brothers Billy and Bobby Blue, they are underage teen pop performers who portray themselves as clean-living by wearing purity rings, but drink and have sex in their private lives. Luis must escort the duo from the MeTV Theater to Maisonette 9 whilst being chased by adoring and obsessed female fans. Luis states that he is helping them out only because his niece is a fan of theirs. They are a parody of the Jonas Brothers while their name is a reference to The Blues Brothers.

8.Bruce Spade — An A-list celebrity actor, who fakes concern towards not being a sellout, environmentalism, poverty, and ending the War in Iraq. "Gay Tony" insisted on sending a helicopter for him to make a grand entrance to Maisonette 9, even though Spade didn't ask for one and preferred carbon neutral vehicles.

RANDOM CHARACTERS:

1.Arnaud — A middle-aged French man. In his first encounter, Luis and Arnaud have a conversation about France, America, and women near Star Junction. He asks Luis to take him to a massage spa in Chinatown for an appointment, which Luis agrees to. In his second encounter, Luis finds Arnaud beaten up in Bohan after a wild night with Brazilian prostitutes. Arnaud asks Luis to find the prostitutes' pimp, as he had stolen his wallet. Luis finds and kills the pimp and returns Arnaud's wallet, then Luis drops him off in a relatively safer part of town.

2.Daisie Cash-Cooze — A London debutante. During her first visit to Liberty City, she developed a cocaine addition and slept with Luis. Luis finds her years later at Maisonette 9. She tells Luis that she gave a hand job to homosexual action star Chris Hunt, and he plans on leaking the video online to make everyone believe that he is straight. Worried that her fiance Bertie will find out, she asks Luis to help find Hunt via Bleeter. After several false leads, Luis and Daisie find Hunt in Star Junction, where he is supposedly premiering his latest movie, which turns out to be the sex tape of him and Daisie. Despite this, Daisie later e-mails Luis, thanking him for his help and tells him that she and Bertie are still getting married. She often confuses Luis with her liberal use of Britishisms (like twat, bugger, slapper etc).

3.Margot — An ex-girlfriend of Luis. A year prior to the game's events, she and Luis were dating; however, he ended the relationship. Margot became obsessed with Luis to the point where she becomes suicidal. In her first encounter outside Hercules, she tells Luis that she severely overdosed on painkillers; however, he takes her to the emergency room to get her stomach pumped. In her second encounter, she is seen hanging over the second storey railing at Pier 45, ready to jump. Luis pleads with Margot to come to her senses, but she jumps to her death with a note saying 'Luis pushed me'. A group of bystanders believe that Luis did push her off, forcing him to outrun an angry mob and the police.

UNSEEN CHARACTERS:


1.Giovanni Ancelotti:
Giovanni Ancelotti (Born 1930) is the Don of the Ancelotti Family, the father of Gracie Ancelotti, and the game's secondary antagonist. When Gracie is kidnapped by the McReary Mob, he believes it is because of the diamonds and points the blame at "Gay Tony" and Luis. Therefore, Don Ancelotti orders the two to find Gracie and trade the diamonds to the kidnappers, threatening to have both of them killed if they don't. When Ray Bulgarin claims ownership of the lost diamonds, Don Ancelotti meets with him, and both agree that they are owed the body of Tony Prince, as he was deemed responsible for the whole diamond situation. Bulgarin's men attack Maisonette 9 and attempt to kill "Gay Tony" and Luis; however, Luis defends Tony and thwarts the attack. The Ancelotti Family is not mentioned again after Luis kills Bulgarin.

2.Ernesto Lopez & Leta Lopez-Wilkinson:
Ernesto Lopez & Leta Lopez-Wilkinson are Luis' siblings. Both had moved from Liberty City to the suburbs to start their own families. Luis mainly communicates with them via e-mail.
Ernesto is an accountant and criticizes Luis' lifestyle, believing that he is a pimp and "drug-dealing trash". Ernesto is not well liked by his siblings as Luis criticizes him for not regularly contacting their mother and not assisting her financially. Leta married a white man and works in human resources. She and Luis have a healthier relationship; she is not as critical as Ernesto and her mother about Luis' lifestyle but still worries about him. When Leta was younger, she was sexually harassed by her teacher, and Luis was sent to juvenile hall for shooting him.

3.Galina Bulgarin:
Galina Bulgarin(Russian:Галина Булгарина) is Ray Bulgarin's sister. She complains about how her brother mistreats her and how he clutters her house with his sports and music memorabilia. During a mission briefing, Ray shoots the ceiling with an AK-47 to silence Galina; however, it is unknown if she was killed.

CHINATOWN WARS CHARACTERS:

HUANG LEE:

A spoiled rich kid from Hong Kong, Huang Lee owes his status as a Triad member to his father, a Triad boss from Kowloon. After the murder of his father, Huang is called to Liberty City by his Uncle Wu "Kenny" Lee to deliver a family 'heirloom", the Yu Jian sword, to secure his family's claim to the leadership of the Triad gangs. But what was supposed to be a weekend of table service and strippers turns into a dangerous adventure after arriving at Liberty City Airport only to be hijacked, robbed of his sword, and left for dead. Huang will have to dig deep into the rotten core of Liberty City - and deep within himself -- to avenge his father's murder and reclaim his family's honor.

KENNY LEE:

The leader of the Lee clan within the Triad organizations of Liberty City, Uncle Kenny is from the old school. He likes his suits double breasted, his platitudes from a fortune cookie, and his payments in cash. Uncle Kenny wants control of the Triads, and there is little that he won't ask Huang to do for him to get it.

LING:

Ling is a street smart Chinatown girl whose beauty belies her deadly skills. She serves as Uncle Kenny's master at arms, and provides necessary muscle in a town that only respects money and brute force. Trained in the martial arts and deadly with all manner of small arms, it is Ling who teaches Huang the combat skills he will need to survive on the streets of Liberty City.

HSIN AND CHAN JAOMING:

Hsin Jaoming has ruled the Triad gangs of Liberty City for over twenty years with an iron fist. But now nearing retirement, he is looking for a worthy successor with as much ambition and brains as himself. Unfortunately, his playboy son Chan leaves much to be desired as a leader; willful, drug-addled and stupid, Chan buys his friends and makes his enemies with little caution and even less thought.

ZHOU MING:

Relative newcomer to the Triads of Liberty City, Zhou is the dark horse candidate to succeed Hsin Jaoming. Audacious, egotistical and sociopathic, Zhou is a dangerous schemer with power on his mind, and blood on his hands.

WADE HESTON:

A dirty narcotics detective with the IAD on his tail and a monkey on his back, Wade Heston forms a dubious alliance with Huang Lee to find the mysterious FIB rat who has set up both Huang and Wade. Lying, stealing and murdering are all in a day’s work for this member of Liberty City’s finest.

RUDY D'AVANZO:

A mobster of the Italian variety, Rudy crosses the aisle to do business with Huang out of necessity – he too is being squeezed by FIB informants, and needs Huang’s help to work outside his compromised circle to ferret out the rat.

GRAND THEFT AUTO V

On 26 February 2011, five websites were discovered which seemed to indicate a new title in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. There have been several minor leaks of supposed GTA production including websites, casting calls featuring GTA characters, and an IGN editor who has said the next game will be released in 2012.
On 25 October 2011, Rockstar changed their homepage to display the logo for Grand Theft Auto V with the 'V' styled like a bank note. A message was printed below the logo stating that a trailer would be released on 2 November 2011.
On 2 November 2011, Rockstar released a debut trailer for GTA V. Giving fans a first look at the upcoming title, the trailer revealed the setting to be Los Santos, the fictional version of Los Angeles and its California surroundings, including Hollywood ("Vinewood") and rural hills and valleys. Additional features revealed in the trailer included golf, planes, jet skis, a working gym, and police chases, making it look like a spiritual successor to 2004's GTA: San Andreas. The song used in the trailer is "Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake" by the British band the Small Faces.
On 3 November 2011, Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto V was in full development and that it would take place within Los Santos and its "surrounding hills, countryside and beaches", and that it would be "the largest and the most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created". Rockstar parent Take-Two calls GTA V "a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer," while confirming that its story will focus on "the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California."

GAMEPLAY:

According to IGN, Grand Theft Auto V will feature "Crews" similar to Max Payne 3. The new Social Club functionality connect play across multiple titles, starting with Max Payne 3 and GTA V. By playing both games multiplayer, "crews" that the player set up in one will be carried over to the other. "Crews" will let players form private crews with friends, or join public crews. Players can be a member of up to five at the same time, and completing tasks as a crew will gain XP points for the player.

DEVELOPMENT:

In September 2009 during an earnings call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick answered a listener's question about the next Grand Theft Auto. He replied, "We're not going to announce it, we're not going to announce when we are going to announce it, and we are not going to announce a strategy about announcing it or about when we are going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy."

In a November 2009 interview with The Times, Grand Theft Auto producer Dan Houser discussed his work, including the future of the series. Houser stated that he planned to co-write a script that reached about one thousand pages in length. In the same interview, Houser explained the company's basic workflow of creating new games in the series, which involves coming up with the city first, and then the lead character later.

In July 2010, Rockstar North posted seven job ads related to a new title. The firm looked to fill positions including Environment Artists, Physics Programmers and Character Animators. The job ad for the latter asking for those with "professional experience developing a third person action game". It was unknown if Rockstar was hiring for GTA V, or the firm was bulking up its Agent team.

PRE ANNOUNCEMENT:

In December 2010, Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick said that the company "won't annualise" its biggest franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne and Red Dead. He told Reuters that doing so would threaten their quality and risk burning out consumers.

In February and March 2011, there were several possible minor leaks of supposed GTA production, including domain name registrations. In March a number of casting calls for voice acting in a project codenamed Rush were leaked onto the internet. Considering one role included James Pedeaston, a radio personality in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the project was presumed to concern Rockstar.

In June 2011, sources allegedly close to the developer told GameSpot that the title is "well under way", with final touches like mini-games already being applied, and a 2012 release "pretty likely". "It's the big one," they also said of the game, noting that GTA V's scale is vast.

POST ANNOUNCEMENT:

This game has several new features, such as touch screen mini-games. The game was released on 17 March 2009 in North America and 20 March 2009 to Australia and Europe. The game is rated 18+ by PEGI and the BBFC (Europe, UK) and M by the ESRB (North America). A PSP version was later announced on 22 June 2009 and was released in North America on 20 October 2009. Chinatown Wars has a different presentation from previous games in the series. Instead of a ground-level view behind the protagonist or a top-down perspective, Chinatown Wars uses a fully rotatable camera angled down at the action.Chinatown Wars also uses cel-shaded polygons with black outlines to produce a comic book-like aesthetic — a first for the series. Players can make a profit by recognizing market conditions and demands based on geography and plying their wares accordingly. CCTV cameras work as this game's secret packages, destroyed by throwing a Molotov cocktail bottle. This also decreases the chances of being caught while making a drug deal .Chinatown Wars applies many Grand Theft Auto IV features such as the new next gen HUD. Ammu-nation returns in the form of an in-game website where the player can order various weapons through their PDA to be delivered to their safehouse. Official Nintendo Magazine described the game as "one of the largest, most complex DS games ever made", with over 900,000 lines of code.

PLATFORM DIFFERENCES:
The Nintendo DS version of the game takes advantage of the touch screen with functions such as controlling the PDA, GPS, the radio, access to the people on the map, or using Molotov cocktails and grenades. The top screen shows the game and storyboard. Taxi whistling is supported by the DS microphone.

The PSP version features updated graphics, which are no longer cel-shaded, thus sporting a more "classic" look akin to previous games in the series (however, cutscenes are stylistically identical). Mini-games (such as drawing tattoos, unscrewing the car and boom panels) have been adapted from their touch-screen functionality to simpler, QTE-like mini-games. The PSP version also features extra missions and exclusive radio stations not found in the Nintendo DS version. However, PSP multiplayer supports only 2 players.

The iOS version of the game includes on screen touch controls, a custom radio station that uses the iPod library, and the mini-games have been adapted to work well with capacitive touch screens. One notable feature lacking is NPC sounds; some reviews have criticized this saying that Liberty City seems "silent". The iOS version also includes even more music and radio stations than the Nintendo DS or the Sony PSP.

VEHICLES:
While stealing a moving vehicle is similar to that of previous GTA games, Chinatown Wars uses a different system for stealing parked vehicles. Depending on the car, it can be started in one of a few ways. Older cars require a few turns of a screwdriver in the ignition, while other cars require hotwiring. Newer, more expensive cars (with the exception of a bulletproof van) require the player to "hack" the computerized immobilizer. It is still possible to flip cars or set them on fire. The player is unable to pilot any of the aircraft in the game, but he can still see the ones at the airport or flying above him, although if a player uses a certain code on the Nintendo DS by using "Action Replay DS", the player can acquire it.

SOCIAL CLUB:

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars uses Rockstar's Rockstar Games Social Club. Players can use this service to upload their gameplay statistics. Competitive and co-operative multiplayer modes are only available through DS to DS local wireless.

The features available through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection include chatting, trading items and sharing favourite GPS markers and stats with other players. Through the Social Club, players are also able to download new missions. The version for the iPod and iPad lack the social club ability. Thus, Xin's missions start without the need to download them.

SOUNDTRACK:

Music for the opening titles of gameplay is the track 'Chinatown Wars' performed by Ghostface Killah and MF Doom and produced by Oh No of the Stones Throw Records.

On top of the soundtrack featured in the DS version of the game the PSP version will exclusively feature music by Anvil,Tortoise,DFA Records,Turntables on the Hudsonand DJ Khalil.

The iOS version originally featured all the music from the DS version and also allowed the player to customize a music playlist using songs from their music library. A subsequent update added all the music from the PSP version.

SYNOPSIS:

Huang Lee, the spoiled son of a recently murdered Triad boss, arrives by plane in Liberty City with Yu Jian, a sword that Huang's father won in a poker game and has decided to use as an heirloom, to deliver it to the new patriarch of the family, Huang's uncle Wu "Kenny" Lee. Shortly after landing, Huang's escorts are killed by assassins and he is shot and kidnapped. The assailants steal the sword and, thinking Huang is dead, dump his body in the water. Huang manages to survive and informs Kenny that Yu Jian has been taken. Kenny explains that he had intended to offer the sword to Hsin Jaoming, the aging Triad boss in Liberty City, as a means of securing a position as his replacement. Kenny is dishonoured and reduced in power due to the loss of Yu Jian, leaving him and Huang working to keep their businesses afloat.

Eventually, Huang is contacted by Zhou Ming, a high-ranking Triad member, and Chan Jaoming, son of Hsin. Both men are also competing to be Hsin's replacement, and employ Huang to combat each other's efforts. After Chan hires Huang for a deal that goes badly, Huang is intercepted by LCPD Detective Wade Heston, a crooked cop under pressure from Internal Affairs. Heston offers an alliance with Huang to find the men responsible for the theft of Yu Jian and the murder of Huang's father. Huang agrees and finds that Heston suspects a Korean gang allied with the Triads is behind the events. After combating the Koreans for a while, Heston plants a bug in the Koreans' headquarters, from which he learns that there is a splinter group inside the gang called the Wonsu. Heston determines that the leader of the Wonsu will be the one responsible for Yu Jian's theft, and is also a police informant who has been causing trouble for the Triads.

Meanwhile, Hsin enlists Huang in finding the informant, only to then suspect Huang himself and attempt to kill him. Kenny arrives and convinces Hsin to give them time to find the real rat, bringing haste to Huang's mission. Hsin puts Huang on to investigate two gangs who may be housing the rat: the Angels of Death, and the Korean Mob. Huang gets into contact with Lester Leroc, a PI inside the Angels of Death, and performs his own work against the Koreans. Huang is temporarily thrown off course by the intervention of mafia member Rudy D'Avanzo, who tricks Huang into believing the mole is a Messina Family member named Jimmy Capra. Hsin later reveals D'Avanzo's trickery and Huang kills him.

Both the Koreans and the Angels are found to be innocent, leading to a new course of investigation. Heston employs Huang to hack into the servers of the FIB in order to find the informant. The information recovered names both Zhou Ming and Chan Jaoming as having talked to the police about Triads. This is taken to Hsin, who, disgraced that his own son is a suspect, instantly steps down as leader and appoints Kenny as the new head of the Liberty City Triads. Huang then executes both Chan and Zhou, despite each of them denying their guilt. Shortly after the killings, Huang is contacted by Heston, who informs him the information they recovered was fake, and that he has learned of a meeting between the leader of the Wonsu and his allies. Huang and Heston go to the meeting and find Kenny, who admits that he was responsible for the theft of Yu Jian and Huang's father's death. Heston and Huang pursue Kenny across town, cornering him at Hsin's residence. Here Kenny explains that he was tasked by Hsin to retrieve Yu Jian, thus Huang's father would have to die for it to be passed on to him, in exchange for a position underneath Chan. Kenny complied with this, but attempted to have Yu Jian stolen to keep himself from such a dishonourable position and later framed Zhou and Chan to cover his tracks.

After a final confrontation between Hsin and Kenny, Hsin demands the hand over of Yu Jian. Kenny ironically responds by stabbing Hsin with the sword as his way of presenting it to him. With Huang as witness to the murder and truth, Kenny engages in an inevitable final battle with Huang, who is the only one left in the way of Kenny's undisputed rise to power. Centred on a fountain with Kenny slashing away, Huang eventually kills Kenny, fulfilling his promise to avenge his father. Immediately the IAD and FIB arrive to arrest Heston and Huang, however Heston claims that he was in deep undercover and orders the arrest of everyone except Huang. Hsin praises Huang with the loyalty and nobility to become his true successor as Triad Boss.

By completion of the story and locating the two Lions of Fo for the Rockstar Games Social Club, you can open up Xin Shan's missions. Xin instructs Huang to steal a Rhino to distract the police from a planned robbery. However, Xin is ambushed by the cops and Huang has to take him to safety. Afterwards, he makes the revelation that he is the brother of Ling Shan, a girl who was murdered early on in the game.


MARKETING:
In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars' GameStop preorder commercial, the dialogue referred to the real-life corporate bailout in 2008.A new gameplay trailer was released on 6 March 2009, showing gameplay involving using a sniper rifle and interacting with keypads with the Nintendo DS' stylus.GameStop had a promotion where they sent around a van letting people try the game before it was released.Other stores gave away a "credit card" which activates $10,000 of in-game money and earlier access to better weapons.Amazon provided a code to unlock an exclusive bulletproof Infernus with preorders.

RECEPTION:
At the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars received the Best Handheld Game award. However, the version was not specified. It also won the Best Nintendo DS Game of 2009 Award from GameSpot.

NINTENDO DS VERSION:


Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has received critical acclaim. On GameRankings, it is currently the highest rated Nintendo DS game ever, with an average review score of 92.75.[45] The game hold a 93 aggregate score on Metacritic which is the highest score on that site for a DS game.[46] The game also has the highest rank for the Nintendo DS at GameSpot, with a rating of 9.5/10.[47] It was nominated for three of GameSpot's awards: Game of the Year, DS Game of the Year, and Action Game of the Year, winning DS Game of the Year.[citation needed] Official Nintendo Magazine rated the game 94%, praising the visuals and variety in gameplay, concluding in their review that "Rockstar has captured and condensed the Grand Theft Auto series' high points and crammed them into one terrific title. Think the DS can't handle GTA? Think again."[citation needed] IGN UK gave it a rating of 9.2, calling it a "a masterpiece of handheld gaming" while IGN US gave the game a 9.5 out of 10.[citation needed] Eurogamer gave it a rating of 10/10, saying "Overall this is GTA as it first was, with the inherited wisdom of GTA as it's been since, finished off with all sorts of things that would happily belong in a GTA of the future."[citation needed] 1up.com gave it a A-, saying that it is "impressive from the start".[citation needed] Chinatown Wars was nominated for Game of the Year by Nintendo Power, as well as Nintendo DS Game of the Year, Best Nintendo DS Graphics, and Best Adventure Game.

Chinatown Wars generated lower than expected sales in its first week in the United Kingdom, and did not even sell to level with the debut of Vice City Stories, which was Rockstar's expectation. In the United States, it sold just under 90,000 units during its first two weeks on the American market.This led Best Buy to sell the game at a reduced price for a limited time; the response to this was very positive.

PSP VERSION:
Rockstar confirmed via a press release that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was going to be released for the PlayStation Portable on 20 October 2009. It was speculated that the PSP version would revert back to the third person view. However it retained the top down view from the DS version.The game is available on UMD as well as via the PlayStation Network.1up.com gave the PSP version an A-, citing the experience is good second time around, and it is efficient for people who are playing for the first time. IGN gave the PSP version a 9.3/10, compared to the 9.5/10 on DS.

Unlike the DS version which reached number 5,the PSP game did not chart in the UK top 40 upon release,nor did it chart in the US monthly top 20.

iPHONE VERSION:
The iPhone version was released on January 17, 2010. The touchscreen minigame mechanics originally seen in the Nintendo DS version have returned in a similar fashion. The graphics, when compared to the DS and PSP versions, are not cel-shaded like the DS version and lack the ambient lighting and effects seen in the PSP version. An update released on March 28, 2010 added the radio stations that were formerly exclusive to the PSP version. Currently the iPhone version contains no multiplayer.

iPAD VERSION:
The iPad version was released on September 9, 2010 receiving glowing reviews. This version comes in 1024 X 768 'HD' graphics. IGN gave it a 9.0/10.

GRAND THEFT AUTO THE BALLAD OF GAY TONY

The second and last Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content episode was called Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony and was released on 29 October 2009. Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is a compilation pack released for the Xbox 360 at the same time as The Ballad of Gay Tony. It contains The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony on one disk and does not require an original copy of GTA IV.

GAMEPLAY:

The Ballad of Gay Tony includes the ability to replay previously passed missions with scoring, similar to the Hitman and Manhunt series. This feature was previously introduced to the series in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Additions to the game's inventory include new weapons such as the FN P90, the M249 SAW light machine gun, the Atchisson Assault Shotgun, the .44 Auto Mag pistol, and the sniper rifle DSR-1. It also includes the return of satchel charges. Additional vehicles include high-end sports cars, sedans, a new aircraft, a small attack helicopter called the "Buzzard", a heavy-lift helicopter called the "Skylift", and a shuttle helicopter named the "Swift". In addition, the parachute which can also be found in San Andreas returns, allowing players to participate in BASE jumping and skydiving challenges. When flying a helicopter the map now functions as an altimeter (similar to a feature in San Andreas).

The game also introduces a new driving range activity, as well as the ability to visit Tony's two nightclubs; where they can participate in drinking and dancing-based minigames. They can also manage the club's security. If players wish to do so, they are also able to enter an underground fighting tournament; where they can either spectate or compete in fights. In multiplayer, free mode, deathmatch, team deathmatch, race and GTA Race modes were updated, and a "BASE jumping" (multiplayer competition) mode was introduced, as a variation of free mode.

PLOT:


The Ballad of Gay Tony begins with Luis Fernando Lopez being held hostage at the Bank of Liberty in Algonquin, during a robbery involving Niko Bellic, Packie and Derrick McReary and Michael Keane. A local gun club member lying next to him, Eugene Reaper, shoots and kills Keane and is then killed by Packie McReary in retaliation. The scene cuts to the aftermath of the robbery; Luis is questioned by the police about the incident before proceeding to "Gay Tony"'s loft. On the way there, he is nearly run over by Niko Bellic (returning from the robbery) and Johnny Klebitz who drives past him. Rocco Pelosi, a senior Ancelotti mobster, and his accomplice, Vince, enter the loft to collect Tony's club income for the week as interest repayment on an outstanding loan. Tony then discusses with Luis his dire financial situation with his two clubs, Maisonette 9 and Hercules. In an attempt to curry favour with Rocco, Tony and Luis go to Chinatown to negotiate a deal with a senior Triad. Billy Grey, president of The Lost Motorcycle Gang is seen arranging an ambush on Johnny Klebitz and Jim Fitzgerald with the Triad as Tony and Luis enter the room. The negotiations with the Triad soon turn awry, and Luis protects Tony through their escape from Chinatown.

Luis visits his mother, who also has financial issues, and his childhood friends Henrique Bardas and Armando Torres. Luis' mother does not approve of his lifestyle, and would like him to attend college. Henrique and Armando are Luis' friends who are heavily involved with the narcotics distribution trade. Luis soon becomes acquainted with Yusuf Amir, (voiced by Omid Djalili) a real estate developer in Liberty City. Luis helps Yusuf acquire several vehicles, including an experimental military grade chopper called the "Buzzard," which Luis steals from South African arms dealer Frickie van Hardenburg, an APC used by the National Office Of Security Enforcement (NOoSE), and even a subway carriage.

Meanwhile, Tony is headed in a downward spiral due to substance abuse, supplied by his boyfriend Evan Moss. Luis, Tony and Evan head to the docks to buy two million dollars worth of diamonds from a chef coming in on a tanker called the "Platypus". In the Grand Theft Auto IV opening cutscene, the chef can be seen mixing these diamonds into cake batter on the Platypus as Niko walks by. During the exchange, members of The Lost (led by Johnny Klebitz) attack and kill Evan to acquire the diamonds. Tony promises Luis that he will quit the substance abuse and introduces Luis to Mori Kibbutz, and his younger brother Brucie. Mori is highly egotistical and constantly chooses to bully and belittle Brucie, a source of irritation to Luis who repeatedly stands up for the younger brother. Luis does eventually manage to effectively cancel Tony's debt to Mori. After Luis finishes his last favor for Mori, Brucie stands up to his brother, punching him in the nose. Brucie shows up in a cutscene at the Maisonette club to thank Luis, also making a sexual advance on him. Mori later calls Luis, revealing that he's taken a dictatorial position in a commune.

Tony and Luis meet Ray Bulgarin and his associate Timur at Maisonette 9, who offer Luis some work in exchange for financial help. Luis helps Bulgarin eliminate some corrupt federal agents and acquire the Liberty City Rampage hockey team. Gracie Ancelotti gets Tony back on the drugs and is later kidnapped by unknown assailants (Revealed to be Niko Bellic and Packie McReary from GTA IV) . The Ancelottis establish that Gracie has been kidnapped because of the diamonds and are pointing the blame at Tony and Luis. Tony learns that the diamonds are being exchanged at the Libertonian, and sends Luis to retrieve them. Luis ambushes the exchange (involving Niko Bellic and Johnny Klebitz) and escapes in the Buzzard, which has since been gold plated.

Bulgarin phones Luis, telling him to go to the roof of a building in midtown Algonquin. As Luis uncovers the severed head of the chef from the "Platypus", Bulgarin explains that the diamonds belong to him and accuses the chef, Luis and Tony of colluding to steal them. It emerges that Bulgarin has led Luis to an ambush on the rooftop, and he escapes alive. Luis and Tony are then ordered by Gracie's father, Giovanni Ancelotti, to trade the diamonds with the kidnappers in order to get Gracie back. At the exchange, Bulgarin shows up and orders his men to attack the assailants, Packie McReary and Niko Bellic. Bulgarin flees the scene and amidst the chaos the diamonds fall into a dump truck headed the opposite direction. Luis, Tony and Gracie then successfully escape in a speedboat.

As a result of being preoccupied with recent events, Tony neglects to pay his debts and the city closes down all of his clubs. Luis meets Rocco and Vince in the restrooms in Middle Park, and they explain to him that he must kill Tony, before both the Ancelottis and Russians decide to team up and kill Tony, Luis and all of their friends and family. Luis shows up at Maisonette 9, and contemplates shooting Tony before pointing the gun at Vince and shooting him in the head. Tony warns Luis not to shoot Rocco, as he is a "made man". Rocco escapes, and the Russians show up ensuing in a huge gunfight within the club. Tony blames Luis for contemplating to kill him, he then flees to his apartment to pack and move to the desert. Luis convinces Tony that he chose not to kill him because it's them against the world, and that they need to resolve their situation. Luis ventures to Firefly Island to ambush a Russian heroin exchange, telling Tony to hide out by the Monoglobe structure in Meadows Park, Dukes.

In the fairground, Luis destroys the heroin and kills Timur, who mentions that Bulgarin is fleeing the city by plane within two hours. After an opportune phone conversation, Yusuf shows up in the Buzzard and eliminates the pursuing Russians while Luis drives to the airport. Luis manages to board the plane, and kill all of the henchmen onboard. A vengeful Bulgarin emerges from the cockpit holding a grenade, threatening destruction to both of them if Luis kills him. Luis takes the risk and shoots Bulgarin, who drops the grenade causing it to explode. Luis parachutes out of the burning wreckage of the plane to safety, and heads to Meadows Park where Tony is waiting. In the park, Luis accidentally knocks a homeless man into a trash can, who finds the missing diamonds amongst the trash and runs off gleefully. Yusuf approaches Tony and Luis and the three celebrate their victory and look toward the future. At the end of the credits sequence, Mori and Brucie are seen in an underground cage fight and Packie McReary is seen leaving Liberty City on a plane with the stolen money from robbing a bank with Niko Bellic. The homeless man who found the diamonds is later shown living in a mansion surrounded by women and all of Tony's clubs are reopened. After this, the player can choose to replay past missions if they so choose to do so.
